How the letters are placed

  • A is at the entrance on the short side, C on the opposite short side.
  • In a 20 × 40 m arena the long-side letters (K, E, H and F, B, M) are 6 m, 20 m and 34 m from the A end.
  • In a 20 × 60 m arena V, S and P, R are added: K-V-E-S-H and F-P-B-R-M are spaced 6 m from the corners and 12 m apart.
  • A popular way to remember the order (from A, clockwise): “All King Edward’s Horses Can Make Big Fences” – A K E H C M B F.
